Springtime at the U.S. Naval Academy is a season of excitement, camaraderie, and unmatched athleticism. As the flowers bloom and temperatures rise, the Yard transforms into a hub of energy, with varsity and club sports showcasing the skill and determination of Navy’s finest. Whether you're a seasoned sports fan or just looking for a unique outing, there’s something for everyone in the USNA’s spring sports lineup. Let’s dive into Navy lacrosse, Navy baseball, and other spring Naval Academy sports to watch this season so you can make the most of your visit to the Yard.

1. Men’s Lacrosse: High Stakes and Thrilling Plays

One of the most anticipated sports of the spring is Navy Men's Lacrosse. Known for their fast-paced, high-energy games, the varsity Midshipmen compete fiercely against top teams in the Patriot League. Home games at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium draw spirited crowds, making every match an unforgettable experience. Navy Faceoff phenom Zach Hayashi was recently named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American, so get in on the excitement and see him in action, and don’t miss the annual Army-Navy lacrosse game (a rivalry packed with history and intensity) that’s happening at home this year on April 12th either! The season officially started with the faceoff on February 1st against High Point. Most games are televised, so you can cheer Navy on from wherever you are! Just don’t forget to pick up some Navy Lacrosse swag for extra spirit!

2. Women’s Lacrosse: Power, Speed, and Teamwork

With five players named to the preseason All-Patriot league and four to the USA Lacrosse preseason All-American team, the Navy Women’s Lacrosse team is positioned for a strong showing. Their schedule includes key matches against competitive teams in the Patriot League, and they look forward to a successful season. CBS will carry the games, so make sure to catch them if you can’t make it to the Yard. The Midshipmen hosted St. Joseph’s at home on February 7th to start the season. They will play Army on April 12th, on Army’s turf. Be sure to find your favorite team gear at Navyonline.com, where lacrosse shirts and sweatshirts abound!

Nothing says spring like baseball, and Navy’s team delivers the quintessential experience. With home games held at Terwilliger Brothers Field at Max Bishop Stadium, fans can enjoy America’s pastime and cheer on the Midshipmen as they battle in the Patriot League. No tickets are necessary. See if you can catch their Star Series against Army (presented by USAA) at home from March 15-16th. Get ready to support the team by suiting up with our best Navyonline baseball apparel and gear!

4. Sailing: Harnessing the Power of the Chesapeake Bay

Fresh off sixth place in the Inter-collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Match Race Nationals, second at the War Memorial, and first at the Chilean Naval Academy and Washington College Fall Open (among other successful races), the Midshipmen sailing team clearly has the wind behind them. The Intercollegiate team competes in both co-ed and women’s events, having showcased their skills on the Chesapeake Bay since February 22nd this year. The team travels as far as Charleston, South Carolina and Boston, Massachusetts. With a combination of strategy, precision, and endurance, Navy’s sailors provide an inspiring spectacle. Pick up some Navy Sailing apparel to show your support year-round!
