    A Taste of the Yard

    If you haven’t been to the Yard lately, you’re in for a treat. Whether you’re enjoying

    a leisurely afternoon wandering the walkways or you’re feeding your own battalion for a day of exploration, these uniquely USNA restaurants have everything that you need for an unforgettable meal and an unforgettable trip to the U.S. Naval Academy.

     

    1845 Coffee

    A relatively new addition to the Yard, this local treasure n

    ow has two convenient locations, both

     brewed with USNA charm. Treat yourself to a fantastic beverage in one of the oldest buildings in the Yard, the former Gate 3 gatehouse.This 1845 Coffee is open on Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and features sweet outdoor seating where you can watch the Yard march by while you sip your latte.


     

    If you are eligible, there’s also an 1845 Coffee that the midshipmen flock to in the Midshipmen Store located in Bancroft Hall. They are serving up delicious goods every day—Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m., Friday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:00 a.m.- 4:00p.m. and closed on Sundays.  

     

    Both locations offer mouth-watering coffee beverages (now featuring delightful spring specials), smoothies, kombucha, juices and more, and the Midshipmen Store also prepares breakfast, lunch and dinner along with healthy snacks. Try their house-baked pastries and other temptations, as well as beautiful house-made sandwiches, salads and wraps. The vibe is casual and there is seating so you can take the time to enjoy.

     

    Drydock Restaurant

     

     

    Tucked inside historic Dahlgren Hall, in a fun and vibrant atmosphere, you can enjoy quick and yummy food. Walk down the stairs just under the famous life-sized Wright Flyer into a world filled with Navy memorabilia and the buzz of the Yard. With the “best pizza in town,” Drydock Restaurant USNA is the perfect place for a lunchtime stop when you’re touring the Yard. They’re open from Monday - Friday from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and closed on weekends. You’ll find a variety of freshly baked pizzas, from classic cheese to tangy buffalo chicken, to savory pulled pork—and more. They also feature delicious grab-n-go chicken clubs, Italian subs, cheeseburgers, wings and chicken fingers. Drydock is a fun and satisfying place to refuel and get a true taste of the Yard.

     

    The Alley Restaurant

     

    Nestled in the historic and elegant Naval Academy Club, The Alley Restaurant has been the scene of many memorable occasions for midshipmen, faculty, naval leaders and anyone looking for a great meal for years. Featuring a beautiful backdrop  of maritime photos and plush seating, you’ll enjoy gracious hospitality and an ever-changing menu with fresh seasonal cuisine that pays homage to its Chesapeake heritage, as well as a beautiful bar stocked with excellent libations. 

     


     

    You don’t need to have a membership to join us for lunch, although members also have happy hour, dinner and Sunday brunch privileges. While you’re here, you can tuck into warm pretzel bread complemented by a Chesapeake crab dip with cheddar and jack cheeses—or try the melt-in-your-mouth braised lamb meatballs with gorgonzola polenta and olive caper tomato sauce—just for starters. There are juicy burgers, filet mignon, herb tahini hummus bowls with pita and roasted turkey paninis with pear, along with a host of sweet desserts, featuring sorbets and New York style cheesecake. The Alley Restaurant also offers a to-go option! Call  410-293-2608 to order. Their current hours are Tuesday - Friday, 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m for limited seating dine-in lunch and to-go lunch., 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. for dine-in happy hour and 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. for dine-in dinner. Reservations (call 410-293-2632) are strongly recommended. Non-members are welcome to dine from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

     

    Come dine with us! Don’t go searching “restaurants near naval academy annapolis md” —just head straight to the Yard for a full culinary experience, while taking in the spectacular waterfront views and beautiful spring-fresh pathways winding through the historic Naval Academy. When you choose to dine at the restaurants on the Yard, you’re choosing to support the Brigade of Midshipmen. Every dining venue here gives back to the Brigade, so you can savor every bite of your delicious meal or every sip of that nice, hot cup of coffee, knowing that they’re supporting the Brigade.
