The Naval Academy Club: At Home on the Yard

It’s an integral piece of U.S. Naval Academy history and one of the beautiful examples of Beaux-Arts architecture on the Yard. Long known as the special social heart of the Yard, the Naval Academy Club continues its reputation of excellence even as the Naval Academy itself evolves. Learn about this institution’s interesting story and find out how you can become a part of the time-honored tradition of the Club.

    Join the Club

The Naval Academy Club has helped drive the rhythms of Yard life for over 100 years. Throughout this time, this stunning space has hosted festive wedding receptions, famous brunches, beautiful banquets, impactful meetings, and important everyday moments. These elegant walls have seen countless memorable events. Recently, the Club was refreshed and refurbished with a modern maritime decor anchored in naval tradition. Gorgeous framed artwork, lighter walls, and an airier aesthetic throughout all pay homage to the uniqueness of the USNA and its rich history.

For those interested in becoming a part of the Club, there are a number of options with varying eligibility requirements, and membership fees vary by category. The Club offers discounted membership opportunities to midshipmen, as well as Plebe parents and spouses. Plebe parents may join the Club for a Yearly fee of $175 that is valid for the four years your midshipman is at the Academy. Additionally, a plebe receives membership for their tenure for just $25 (plus an additional five years after commissioning), or they may join for free under their family’s membership.

    Memorable Meals

As members, you’ll enjoy the full hospitality of the club and have access to one of the most unique dining spots in Annapolis. Enjoy the award-winning Alley Restaurant, which features high-end dining choices in a classic, upscale casual atmosphere. The executive chef dreams up weekly specials with fresh and innovative seasonal cuisine that reflects the local Chesapeake Bay area bounty. You can also experience exclusive members-only club dining events, which have included the Prime Rib Night, Trivia night, Easter Brunch, Holiday Open House and Parade of Lights. The Alley Burger and crab cake sandwiches are perennial favorites that always earn top marks.

The Sunday brunch mornings (which typically occur once a month) are also a must-do, featuring a mouthwatering all-you-can-eat buffet. Members also qualify for special lunch discounts, with a menu that features a long list of favorites. And later, you can catch a popular 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. happy hour followed by dinner seating between 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., then retire and relax at the comfortable Club Bar, with a vibe and seating that invite you to stay awhile.

    Shop for the Midshipmen

There are additional member benefits, including access to the Midshipmen Store, which is only open to authorized patrons. This shop sells many Navy products and spirit gear items not found elsewhere. You’ll also unlock discounts at our online store, Navyonline. When you shop at these two stores and the USNA Gift Shop, proceeds directly support the midshipmen who support our freedom. No other stores do this.

In fact, when you dine at the NAC or another Yard establishment, take a USNA tour, or shop here, you’re funding the extracurricular activities like cultural arts, music, theater, club sports, and more that build camaraderie and teamwork among the Brigade. You’re directly supporting the midshipmen.
