August and September are warm and wonderful — and they are packed with festivities and events that will delight locals and visitors alike.

    Celebrate Annapolis: A Festival Extravaganza

    Maryland Renaissance Festival, Weekends, August 24 - October 20, 2024 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.: Step back in time at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, which opens its gates for its 48th season in late August. Held in Crownsville, just a short drive from Annapolis, this festival is one of the largest and most robust Renaissance fairs in the country. Enjoy jousting matches, feast on turkey legs, and peruse artisan crafts. It’s a perfect family outing filled with unforgettable entertainment and historical charm.

    1. Plebe Parents’ Weekend, August 8-11, 2024: After they’ve given it their all through Plebe Summer, this event is a welcome highlight for families of the newest midshipmen, known as plebes. Plebe Parents’ Weekend includes a variety of activities, such as parades, tours, and social events, providing families a behind-the-scenes view of life at the Academy. It’s a heartwarming occasion that showcases the pride and dedication of the Academy’s community and celebrates the plebes as they enter their first academic year at the Naval Academy.

     

    2. Brigade of Midshipmen Formal Parade, September 6, 2024 4:00 pm: Witness the precision and discipline of the USNA Brigade of Midshipmen during their formal parade. Held at Worden Field, this event is open to the public and offers a chance to see the impressive military drills and ceremonies that are a cornerstone of USNA history. You’ll feel the pride rise up as you watch these young men and women in uniform move in perfect harmony.
