    How to Get to the Naval Academy

    The Naval Academy is set in the beautiful city of Annapolis, Maryland, which makes it a great destination for a day or weekend trip.

    Driving

    • From Route 50 East and West take exit 24, Rowe Boulevard. Stay in the right lane
    • After crossing College Creek (second bridge), take a slight right off Rowe Boulevard
    • At traffic light, proceed straight onto Northwest Street
    • Take a right onto Church Circle
    • Take the 4th right onto Duke of Gloucester Street
    • Turn left onto Green Street Annapolis City Dock is one block

     

    Walking

    • From the Annapolis City Dock, walk one block on Randall Street
    • Pedestrian entrances are at the Visitor Access Center at Gate 1, located on Randall Street and Prince George Street
    • The John Barry Gate for pedestrian access is located at the corner of Craig Street and Prince George Street

     

    Note that everyone 18 and older must have a U.S. government-issued photo ID or current passport to enter.

    USNA Parking & Shuttle Information

     

    Parking is available daily at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium located at 550 Taylor Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401. The Stadium shuttle runs during most major events on the yard, where parking is restricted, throughout the year.

     

    The shuttle pickup point is near the Blue Angel plane on the Blue (West) side of the stadium. Enter the stadium parking lot through Gate 5, off Taylor Avenue. Parking rates begin at $10/car and special event parking begins at $20/car.

    Shuttles usually run approximately 30 minutes before and after any event, at 20-30 minute intervals.

    Noah Hillman Garage

    The Noah Hillman Garage is the largest and most convenient parking garage open to the public for visiting the Naval Academy.

     

    The garage includes: parking spaces (165 more than the old garage); gateless entry and exit; easier payments through the app (Premium Parking), text-to-pay, or at payment kiosks; two elevators; two public restrooms; stormwater controls; EV charging stations (nine in total, including six Level III “fast” chargers and three Level II’s); 594 solar panels on the roof that will generate 281 kWh (enough for all connected loads for the garage itself); bicycle racks; greater ADA accessibility; increased lighting for public safety; space counter indicators at the entrances on Gorman Street and Duke of Gloucester; and more.

    Free 10-Minute Trolley

    This 10 Minute trolley follows a route between Whitmore Garage, Gotts Parking Garage, Calvert Street Parking Garage, St Johns College, Maryland Ave, State Circle and Church Circle (view route here).

     

    Shuttle Hours of Operation:
    Friday - Saturday: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

     

    On-Demand Rideshare: Annapolis Go

     

    As of July 17, 2023, the City’s contract with Via, who operates Annapolis Go, has ended. The Annapolis Transportation Department is currently reviewing bids to relaunch a ride-share program through internal transit operations later this summer/early fall.

     

     

    Free Circulating Shuttle

    The re-branded downtown Circulator shuttle. The downtown shuttle will continue to operate between Westgate Circle/Park Place and City Dock with stops along West Street, Duke of Gloucester, Compromise Street, and Main Street.

    The Magenta Shuttle is operated by Reston Limousine in conjunction with Annapolis Transit and will remain free to riders.

    The Magenta Shuttle will now run one shuttle on Sunday mornings because City garages (Park Place, Gotts, Knighton, and Hillman) are open and free between the hours of 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sundays.  

    Downtown Annapolis Parking

     

    When visiting downtown Annapolis, you'll find various parking options including parking garages, parking lots, and metered parking options. There is also a shuttle service available during peak events and weekends that will take you from the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium to downtown Annapolis. 

     

     

    Gott's Court Garage

    Parking is offered at Gott's Court Garage, located at 25 Northwest Street, a 15-minute walk to Gate 1 of the Naval Academy. The Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center may be accessed by exiting on Northeast Street and heading towards the Church Circle roundabout. From there, you will walk around the circle until reaching Main Street; continue down the hill on Main Street and turning left at the bottom of the hill onto Randall Street.

     

    Knighton Garage

    Additionally, there is parking offered at Knighton Garage, located at 1a Colonial Ave, Annapolis, MD 21401, a 20-minute walk to Gate 1 of the Naval Academy. The Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center may be accessed by exiting onto Colonial Ave and turning right on West Street heading towards the Church Circle roundabout. From there, you will walk around the circle until reaching Main Street; continue down the hill on Main Street and turning left at the bottom of the hill onto Randall Street.

     

    Dock Street Lot

    If you only need to visit the Naval Academy for a short period of time, 2-hour metered parking is available at the Dock Street Lot, located at Dock Street, Annapolis, MD 21401, a 5-minute walk from Gate 1 of the Naval Academy.

    Driving Onto the Yard

    Only vehicles with USNA IDs, DoD credentials or handicapped tags may enter Naval Academy grounds. General visitors with government-issued disability parking placard license plates or placards may be granted vehicle access at Gate 8 during general visiting hours. The photo identification will be compared to the parking certification card that was issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles along with the issued disability parking placard.

    These vehicles will be vetted by Military Working Dog at the gate before access is granted.  Persons in this category will be prohibited access during FPCON Charlie and Delta, which would be signified through signage at the gate.
